A billion years in the past, as one tectonic plate ripped other than one other, two chambers of magma had been sealed off beneath what would later turn out to be Greenland. As hundreds of years handed, the magma cooled, every layer crystallising underneath rarefied circumstances. Right now the Ilimaussaq intrusion is a huge fold of rock beneath Gardar, in south-west Greenland. By a stroke of luck, it’s house to 30 of the world’s most desired uncooked supplies.
